Plastics are derived from crude oil, gas, and coal. Generally, residual materials from oil refineries are the primary source of plastic. Plastic production accounts for only 4% of total global oil production.
Recycling for a Viable Environment:
When disposed, plastics do not rot, corrode, dissolve, or biodegrade, and can be found in nature for many years without deteriorating. It contaminates water and soil. It damages aquatic species and even destroys them.
